Week ten: Looking ahead

Likely many of you are coming to the end of a quarter. There's some excellent advice here about when and if to offer extra credit.

I’m looking forward to Spring Break. It will be a nice time to recuperate since I’m sick. Yuck. Sorry Nick and Megan you don’t have spring break yet. These past few weeks have been very draining. Grades are due soon. At least mine are finally all caught up in the 4 classes. Today some students were asking Mrs. Primeau if I was okay since my eyes were watering. They though I was crying, it was cute and showed they cared. I wasn’t crying my eyes have just been watery lately, not so fun. I can’t believe we’re already halfway through March.

We are getting down to the end of the quarter as well. Thursday is the last day and friday is grading day so no students. A lot of students have been asking if they can do extra credit and we have been letting them do extra credit by watching a show on cooking. They have to describe what they cooked, the method, and about what they liked and didnt like. The students all have the opportunity to do this at home. Hope you have a good spring break if you have one!

ya our quarter ends tom as well (w/ grading day on friday), so as a result i have tons of papers to grade.
we have been letting students do extra credit as well. because we just finished a unit on prenatal care, students have to read an newspaper article about what drugs, alcohol, smoking does to the baby if you're pregnant while partaking in these substances, and then write a summary about it.
def jealous of those of you that have spring break now! hope it's relaxing! if not, hope you have a wonderful weekend!

It's sure different from the teacher's side, isn't it? Since everyone is at the end of the quarter, I'd be interested in your take on the guidelines for extra credit I posted above.

Thank you for being so understanding of my wretched flu this week and the cancellation of the student teacher seminar last night. I miss you all!!

Since 50% of the crew is on vacation next week, I will not post a new blog title until they return. However, feel free to contact me or add to this one if you feel so moved. HASTA!

I did not give any extra credit this week in order to pull grades up. However, if they had an assignment they completed but forgot to turn in which was from the recent few weeks. I allowed them to turn it in. Also if they were absent recently I gave them some extra attention to ensure they got all their work done by 3rd Quarter grades. All done with grades and entering them into our system. YEAH! I put a comment next to all of my beginning design students. Must students received two comments. It's nice that there are so many good things you can say about a lot of students. I have definitely started to connect with many students over the past weeks. Many now eat lunch in our classroom. As for Lauren and Dr. Kelly have a great Spring Break! Megan and Nick have a great weekend back to business on Monday just try to stick it out.

Miss everyone and our lovely conversations and tangents.
