Let the fun begin! Good luck student teachers! I will try to check on here as often as I can feel free to ask me any questions you would like. For those of you that don't know I am teaching in Springfield, IL. The average tempature since the middle of December has been 5! Yes 5 degress so all you in AZ I don't want to hear how hot it was there today! haha. I have 3 Foods II classes, 1 foods I and 1 Intro to FACS. Hope all is well with everyone and Happy New Year! P.S. Lauren how is Maryvale?

Ok,
So I finally have some time to sit down and write to all of you about my crazy week of student teaching. Mostly this week has been getting use to the way things work and my charming student’s. The time I had here before made me feel a lot more comfortable. I just got done planning the entire semester with what weeks will cover what units. It feels great to have that done. I’m trying to think about more to tell you but sometimes it feels all meshed together. I love my student’s. It’s nice because I identify well with girls and I have about 98% girls! I never thought I would say this but sometimes walking into the preschool is refreshing. They see everything positive and I love that about that age group. Jennifer has been great. I know that I will learn so much working under her. A few things I really love about her teaching style is it has personality, and she is so thorough with everything she does. The meeting at U of A was ok, it was nice to meet Jennifer Moore and see Dr Kelly and Christina. I’m already starting to worry about jobs or moving on to get my masters. I got to go to an IEP meeting which was cool to see. It’s fun here because the preschoolers call me Ms. Danielle, and the high school kids have to call me Ms. Saffer. It really is the best of both words. I get all the happy moments of children and all the epiphany moments of teenagers. But I get all the snot and attitude as well. Anyhow I hope everyone is doing great and Ill talk to you nest week.

Oh Danielle...they will definitely be bragging about you next year. But I am glad you are having a great time so far. It will go by fast so make sure to stop, take a deep breath, and take it all in! :) You will do great! Im not sure when I will visit again but I will hopefully for sure see you at competition.

Hi Nick!!!!! Man 5 degrees...thats a bummer! I was thinking about you the other day. Thinking...man it must stink to be in Illinois right now. hahaha So what happened to that parenting class huh? :) And Maryvale is great! Never thought I would say that but I have loved every minute of being here. My students are great! Even my boys! I have about two or three students about ready to pop out a baby but that is central Phoenix for ya! Mostly what I have been struggling with is the unknown for next year. With budget cuts and our override not passing, life has been stressful cause I am on the bottom of the totum pole. :( We were able to put our override on the ballot again for March so I have been working with other teachers and Admin to do walks and such to make people aware of what the money is going towards and why we need them to vote yes. So anyways...thats an update from me...

Again, good luck Danielle and Christina! You guys will be great! Enjoy it!

Danielle I am also worried about finding a job after. One of the lows from my first week is finding out how much after school time my teacher puts in. that woman is dedicated! She does FCCLA with a very active chapter, and she also puts in a lot of hours into preparing her students for the ccap competition, which is totally volunteer on her part. Some of the highs are that I feel like I have a lot to bring to the course with my background in culinary arts. My teacher is really open to new ideas which is great, and she answers all of my many questions. She is only in her third year so she is very helpful since she just went through this whole student teaching process. Well that about sums up my first week, one down only 15 more to go!!

Welcome back, Lauren and Nick! It's great to hear about you and receive your support. Happy Tuesday, everybody!!

Hello all! Christina and Danielle you will love student teaching and the moments you don't like will be forgotten with the memories of helping students succeed.

I've been out of it for a while with bronchitis and am now just starting to get better. So I'm here as well with questions or any ideas you may need Danielle or Christina.

I am getting my Masters at the University of Arizona in Educational Psychology and hopefully will be getting a Ph.D. after that. I hope to one day teach at a University.

I am a teaching assistant for a beginning educational psychology class for the elementary education majors. I really enjoy it, and I get to teach lectures once and a while.

The best advice I can give at this point is to prepare for the unexpected if that is at all possible. Or better yet act like you were prepared.
