Since this is the week most of you begin teaching your first class, please share what you are learning and thinking. What have you done in your classes to foster creativity?
This week was amazing. I thought I would share a bit of a funny story that happened last week. It was library day for the children on Friday. Half the preschoolers and I headed up to the library and Jennifer stayed with the rest. We walked in a single line with the preschoolers holding my student’s hands. It was lunch time for some high school student’s. I heard a bunch of high school student’s who were not my student’s being inappropriate. So I gave them a look. Then I heard a girl say “that teacher is a f***ing bitch.” I about died/ I told the school officer because she was around children and he arrested her. It was very interesting. Anyways to get more on topic this was my first official week teaching. I have done a lot to foster creativity. The first day I did the signing of the contract and everyone had to listen, put their input in, and sign the contract. Tuesday and Wednesday we had a fun project. Since we are starting a middle childhood unit I introduced that time period to them. I went over top stories, movies, trends, food and other things of the time they were 6-8 years old. The project was to bring pictures in of them at that age and now. They got to make a collage to compare those times. I also played music from that time while they were working. Each class period had about an hour to work on it. On Friday they got present it to the class and to me. They were told to compare themselves now and when they were in middle childhood. Before that started I played a video on September 11th.That was the most important event that happened at the time they were in middle childhood. As a teacher it’s important for me to bring them back to that time. When we were done presenting they had writing time. I played quiet music and they answered questions on the board. The question was meant to bring them back to that time. So they were like do you remember starting grade school? What was most significant to you at that time? What was your most embarrassing moment at that time? Since we had a lot of movement that day, they all sat down and really thought about what they were writing. It was a great week and Jennifer said everything was great. Next week we are starting the physical development of middle childhood and health issues. Anyways time to start the day!
Ok so I know it is sunday already but this week was even more crazy than usual, I took my AEPA yesterday so cross your fingers that I pass and do not have to sit in a classroom for 4 hours again in complete silence. Anyway I really feel like the students are starting to see me as their teacher now. My fith hour was giving me a challange at first but once I moved their seating chart and I have really become strict with them, but things are going a lot smoother in that class. I don't know how but I ended up teaching the worst and biggest class first, I guess it was a good thing in the end because it helped me get ready for the rest of the classes. over all I think that my teaching is good my teacher says that I am pretty natural at it and we are really good at planning we have planned out the rest of feb. so that is really good I know what I am doing and that takes some of the stress off. Other than that it was just my normal busy week adding in the AEPA test really made it a stressfull one! I will let you guys know in march if I passed or not. I am looking forward to our wed meeting though see you danielle and jennifer then! Oh thanks to everyone for the good advice it is much appreciated!

Thanks for sharing, sounds like you had a good plan for your first week. How did you feel about having to call the school officer on a student?
