Student Teaching 2011

Welcome to Student Teaching 2011!! Hasn't the time passed quickly? Please forgive me, Patrick, for not posting your picture as well. I seem to have stored it on my home computer rather than here at school. Make sure I take one of all of you at our January 6th meeting!

Please say hello, give us some sort of post semester update and post a picture with your sign in name before the first day of student teaching. You'll be required to post at least once a week starting on January 3rd. I'll be posting a weekly topic, but I want to hear from you as often as you want to write.

I have been sick since the end of last semester. Today may have been my first day that I actually felt like myself (almost). Needless to say I am not ready for tomorrow. However, I am going to kick @#$. I love you guys and hope to see/talk to you soon.

I am on lunch right now and I just wanted to share something I already learned... Turns out... 6am... is real.

PS- I don't like this new finding.

Brandon,
There are lots of people up at that hour going places and doing things. Incredible!!

I have to admit being up when the sun is still sleeping just doesn't seem right to me! Overall today went well and I think that I have a good group of students to work with.

Here comes week two. I am strangely excited about this week. Excited to wake up tomorrow morning... Wait, I just said that?

Luckily, my days have been ending before I get a chance to realize I am exhausted from waking up so early. (Unless you count Friday... A speaker scheduled at the end of the week? C'mon...)

February seems like it's coming tomorrow and I feel like I should be more worried- by Feb I am tentatively scheduled to have taken complete control of the classes. Perhaps I am getting a bit of confidence in myself.

To be continued...

Yes here is week two..and I feel pretty good and confident as well. It's amazing how many students were affected personally from the tragedy this weekend..Many of the students' parents, neighbors and friends were present at the scene with CDO being just down the street. Today has been a grieving day for students.

Brandon, be careful about taking on a full load too fast. I guess we'll talk more when I see you Friday.

Chanel, I guess your school must have been shaken to its' core. How was it handled by administration and teachers?

Alissa, Thanks for letting me know about the problem with the link. I forgot to say that in the email I just sent letting you know that I fixed it.

The principle sent out a letter to all the faculty that they shall allow the students to talk openly about how they feel as a class about the incidient and they provided counceling for the students that needed it. I thought they provided a great amount of services to the students.

Just a heads up the AEPA test costs $115, so have your account ready when you go to sign up for that! Tomorrow (my day off) I am meeting Sarah and some of my fashion II/III students on 4th ave. to buy used clothes for our redesign project. I have been exhausted...work and school is not a great combo but I am juggling them anyway.
Hope you are all well this long weekend.

During your visit on Friday Dk, I mentioned a group of 3 girls in the class that love to chit chat in the back. Jennifer and I talked about several strategies I could use and strategies she has used before on those particular girls. That day she had to have a private conversation with one of the girls. I also talked to jen about changing the seating chart for the semester and she was cool with that. Now the girls cant conveniently talk to each other.

First- It's 2011, should we start talking on the 2011 tab?? I'm not going to the other tab without you all...

Sooooooo, I start teaching by myself tomorrow. In the words of the extremely wise and talented Alissa Gopp "eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeek".

I have gone over my lesson plan and powerpoint a million times this weekend and I still find myself stumbling. I think my biggest obstacle right now is s-l-o-w-i-n-g d-o-w-n. I am burning through and entire lesson in 10 minutes because I'm freaked out. Baby steps though, first time I did it I nailed it in 1.5 minutes. ;)

Anyway, I need to get back to it. At least it's a short week, I suppose. Then next week I pick up my favorite class so that should be fun. I hope everyone is doing well.
