Student Teaching 2011

Welcome to Student Teaching 2011!! Hasn't the time passed quickly? Please forgive me, Patrick, for not posting your picture as well. I seem to have stored it on my home computer rather than here at school. Make sure I take one of all of you at our January 6th meeting!

Please say hello, give us some sort of post semester update and post a picture with your sign in name before the first day of student teaching. You'll be required to post at least once a week starting on January 3rd. I'll be posting a weekly topic, but I want to hear from you as often as you want to write.

Week 12: Using Peer Tutors

Check out the link and answer the following questions:
http://cecp.air.org/familybriefs/docs/PeerTutoring.pdf

Does classwide peer tutoring work, why or why not?

If peer tutors were used what subjects/grade levels would it be helpful?

What can teachers do the help facilitate the usage of peer tutors in the classroom?

Using peer tutors, is this something you have considered or actually do already in your classes? If not, why not? If so,how do you do it and for whom?

Week 9: Becoming an excellent teacher

The task of the excellent teacher is to stimulate "apparently ordinary" people to unusual effort. The tough problem is not in identifying winners: it is in making winners out of ordinary people. ~K. Patricia Cross

Reflect over the past eight weeks and thing of the things you have done to stimulate your students.

Week eight: Midterm

Although you are still working up to a full load, I thought I'd remind everybody that you are half way through this experience!!

Think of all the ideas that you had about teaching and how they've changed. Think about what hasn't changed and what you still need to work on. Becoming a good teacher is a journey, not a destination, isn't it?

This week, try to reflect on yourself as a teacher using the thoughts in the previous paragraph or those that you might want to add. I'm looking forward to hearing from you!!

And, of course, enjoy the Rodeo Break!!
