Week eight: Midterm

Although you are still working up to a full load, I thought I'd remind everybody that you are half way through this experience!!

Think of all the ideas that you had about teaching and how they've changed. Think about what hasn't changed and what you still need to work on. Becoming a good teacher is a journey, not a destination, isn't it?

This week, try to reflect on yourself as a teacher using the thoughts in the previous paragraph or those that you might want to add. I'm looking forward to hearing from you!!

And, of course, enjoy the Rodeo Break!!

This is a very hard question. First off, Jennifer I have to speak with you about our meeting next week. I have a doctors apt and that was the only time he could fit me in. 4:30 on Wen. So I can meet later on Wen or we can talk about Tuesday or Thursday! I’m so sorry but I had to go to this doctor. Please email me at dsaffer@email.ariznoa.edu so we can re-schedule as soon as possible.
Anyways about the question, there has not been much about my ideas on teaching that have changed. I love teaching and it has been everything I thought it would be. When Jennifer and I went through my midterm we were pretty much on the same page. Of course there are things where I have room in improve. I try to give all my student’s the chance to succeed with all the different methods I use. I think since I do have quite a bit of special needs students, I can get to know their IEP’s better and work with them on finding something that works better for them.
What is very true is that becoming a great teacher is a journey. It takes a lot of reflection about yourself. You could spend hours working on a lesson only to find out it did not work like you thought it would. It’s important to learn from mistakes and really praise yourself for what went right. There is so much more to being a teacher then just teaching content. We are a role model to them. Everything we do they watch so we have to make sure we are role model worthy. It’s crazy to think we are half way through. I now this experience is making me a better teacher! I’m having so much fun and love the kids!
