Later in the week I will post the videotape of the final student teacher seminar for Nick to see and the rest of us to reflect on when we have time. You four are really something special! It has been a pleasure helping you become the teachers that you now are!!
Meanwhile, take a look at this short movie as a another source of inspiration. Have a great week!!!

This week Sharon Primeau is gone so I have a sub with me, Sharon Wallace. Wallace's comment is I get paid to do this, this is great. I've been teaching all the classes and it is nice to have some freedom and hear good things from a substitute after you teach. My first hour is creating graduation themed door designs for the teachers, which teach seniors. All my beginning design classes are decorating their dream house and are working on that project. Freshmen Foundations finished their resumes yesterday, and later we are working on some interviewing and, maybe budgeting if time. Wednesday the freshmen are working on Bens Bells. Man it's amazing to see how not motivated some students are. There comments just amaze me, why should I work hard the years almost over. Oh it's just a progress report who cares.
Progress report grades are due today for our district and get mailed home Wednesday as I am sure some of you are working on grades to. The sub and I were talking how students try to pull fast ones on teachers and lie and say they turn everything in. One student today said she turned in two assignments and that I lost them. My comment was I never received those assignments and everything I have graded has been handed back. I said are you sure, look through your folder. Needless to say the student was looking in her binder and I said look what's that. It was one of the assignments she claimed to have turned in but didn't. She never found the other assignment and says she turned it. It is just lovely. This student never turned in either assignment the other day. It has made me think how can you document that a student really never turned something in. They could just make stuff up and it will be your word against the students. Well, anyways I can't believe how unorganized student’s binders and backpacks are these days.
Wow that video was something. Part of the reason that I want to get into teaching is so I can make a difference in young students lives. I have had so many teachers that have developed me into the person I am today and would like to do the same for others. I am excited to start my career as a teacher now I just have to find a job! haha I hope that you all have a great week! Were almost done!
I'm feeling "vaclempt" this week as I discuss your last videos and observe you in for the last time. You all have grown so much.
See you tomorrow (Thursday) Nick and Lauren on Monday.
wow! such an inspiring, heartfelt video. it comes at such a great time, as im reflecting on this past semester, past 5 years here, and looking ahead to the future.
part of the reason i went into the education field, now in teaching, and soon in the counseling aspect, is to make a difference. to know that i have touched someone else's life and made a small impact on the world, would be such a great sense of accomplishment and pride.
i am so excited for this next phase of my life, and i'm so excited for you guys as well, as i feel that you all have such amazing things to look forward to in the next year.
hope your week has been going well. enjoy the last couple weeks!!
I have been unable to upload the video of the last seminar. Sorry, Nick. I'll make a dvd copy of it for you and anyone else who wants it.
Sorry I didnt post sooner guys! Crazy week as usual...I am so excited for what is to come. I keep telling myself that I need to enjoy these last couple weeks because I am getting to excited to go home and start things there. I have gotten in contact with a couple teachers at my school and they are so excited to have me there. It feels good to know that they are as excited as I am. Oh my gosh graduation is less then 2 weeks away!!!!! EEEEK!
Hello everyone!
Today is my last day of student teaching. In every class there is a going away party except Freshmen Foundations because there’s was on Tuesday. The students brought in food and such. I made cheese, cracker, and fruit platters for every class with caramel dip and a fruit dip. It’s exciting thinking about all the opportunities, which are now in my future. At the same time it’s sad to leave behind all of my students. I have gotten to know all of them so well throughout the semester. I made a little letter and attached a piece of candy to it for each student; I also signed each letter individually. All of my students keep saying we are going to miss you, and I’m going to cry. I’ve gotten teary eyed a few times but haven’t started crying big time yet. I might hit me 6th hour. So far I’ve gotten a card from a student, a personal letter from a student, and then a card from my entire Second hour.
I also bought two small notebooks for all of my students to write me a note if they’d like. I’ve read a few of them. One was quite funny because it was in regards to the student who used to always do homework in my class, and had attitude. This was the one girl I wrote a behavior plan and incident report for. She wrote “ Ms. Sherrow, Not gonna lie, I didn’t like you very much at the beginning. I didn’t notice how much of a nice and cool person you actually were. I want to apologize for having so much attitude. I’m actually going to miss you. I had fun.” There are other great ones too, If you guys want I could bring the books to our Friday reception at the Norton School if anyone if interested in seeing them, let me know. Feel free tp steal the notebook idea if you wish. I wanted to have something I could keep from my students to remember them and student teaching.
It’s quite amazing how I feel I have made a difference in my student’s lives even though I have only been here one semester. It is after this semester that I realize that I want meant to be a teacher either in high school or college.
Well I could write so much more but I think I’ll go read the notebooks and see what students have wrote and also clean up the room.
How is everyone else doing as student teaching comes to a close?
Wow, graduation is only eight days away! I’m excited but will be sad to see everyone go! I’ll sure miss all of you and the great memories we had in FACS ED. I’m quite happy I’m graduating early or I never would have meet all of you and would be in the next group of student teachers.
Have a great Friday and weekend!
