For me, I think the least challenging is planning. I enjoy lesson planning. I try to make sure each lesson has them moving/ I like to combine different things into a lesson. When I have a block period it’s nice to have them do group activity as well as individual activity. I also have them write their critical thoughts as well as discuss. I think I do a great job of short term and long term planning. If we finish early and have 15 minutes left I can come up with an activity on the spot. I also have most this semester planned and lesson plans finished until after rodeo break. I don’t like to record keep but I don’t find that most challenging. I think assessing student learning can be a little more difficult. I try to do this in different ways. I like to make sure they’re speaking, writing, and participating. This week we will be working on a final PowerPoint for the unit middle-childhood. Each student is responsible for 2 slides in their group presentation. I’m not ready to give them a group grade because I’m trying to teach them that they need to be held accountable for work as well. But when they’re not taking tests sometimes it’s hard to assess them. Jennifer gave them a take home test and they all did terribly. I need to make sure I’m assessing them in different ways. Some kids have different ways of showing their understanding and I’m just trying to get use to it.
